2021: bare seabed

The Blackwater estuary had lost 92% of its seagrass to dredging and runoff. What remained was sand.

Seeding

Volunteers planted 140,000 seed bags by hand across two seasons, each anchored by a hessian sack that rots away in a winter.

2023: first meadow

Two years in, the first continuous meadow closed over 40 hectares. Sediment stopped moving; the water cleared.
